Terms of Use
Last updated: 19 August 2026
1. Who we are and what this is
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Demo Operator Ltd. (the “Operator”, “we”, “us”), the registered money service business that operates the Paythara service (the “Service”). The Service lets you send money to recipients in supported countries, receive US-dollar payments through account details issued in your name, and hold stablecoin balances as described in section 6.
Payment, custody and identity-verification services are provided through our regulated payment services provider (the “Provider”). Funds in transit and balances you hold are held by the Provider, not by us. By using the Service you also accept the Provider's terms of service, which are presented to you during verification.
2. Eligibility and your account
To use the Service you must:
- be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract;
- register with accurate, current information and keep it updated;
- use the Service for yourself, not on behalf of an undisclosed third party;
- keep your password confidential — activity under your sign-in is treated as yours.
One account per person. We may refuse, suspend or close an account where the law, our Provider agreements or our risk assessment requires it.
3. Identity verification
Anti-money-laundering law requires us to know who you are before money moves. Verification is performed by the Provider through its own hosted process; your identity documents go directly to the Provider and are not stored by us. We receive and record only the outcome (approved, in review, or rejected). Until you are approved, you cannot send money or receive account details.
4. Transfers
- Quotes. Before you confirm a transfer you are shown the exchange rate, our fee, the total you must pay and the amount we expect your recipient to receive. Confirming locks those numbers.
- Funding. A transfer moves only after your payment arrives using the funding instructions shown. You owe nothing until you choose to pay.
- Recipient details. You are responsible for the accuracy of the recipient information you give us. A payout sent to the account you specified is a completed payout.
- Cancellation. You owe nothing on a transfer you have not funded, and simply not paying it leaves you no worse off. There is no self-service cancel button today: to have an unfunded transfer withdrawn, or to ask about one you have already funded, contact us. Once funded, a transfer can be cancelled only if it has not yet been paid out, and your funds remain in your balance with the Provider.
- Delays and reviews. Transfers may be delayed or declined for compliance review (section 7). Where a transfer is declined before funding, nothing is owed. Where it is declined or returned after funding, the funds stay in your balance with the Provider and can be used for another transfer. Withdrawing a balance to your own bank account is arranged with us directly — the Service does not offer a self-service withdrawal.
5. Fees and exchange rates
Our fee is shown before you confirm and is charged on top of the amount you send. The exchange rate shown at confirmation is the rate you get. Rates displayed elsewhere (including the public calculator on our website) are indicative until a transfer is confirmed. Your bank or the recipient's institution may charge its own fees, which are outside our control.
6. Virtual accounts and stablecoin balances (USDC and EURC)
Verified customers are issued virtual account details in your name — a routing and account number accepting ACH, FedNow and wire payments for US dollars, and an IBAN and BIC accepting SEPA payments for euros. These details are issued and operated by the Provider. They are not a conventional bank account: incoming dollars are converted automatically into USDC and incoming euros into EURC, and balances you hold through the Service are held as stablecoins.
- What USDC and EURC are. USDC and EURC are stablecoins — digital tokens issued by a third-party issuer and designed to hold the value of the US dollar and the euro respectively, backed by reserves held by that issuer.
- What they are not. Stablecoin balances are not bank deposits, are not legal tender, and are not covered by deposit insurance (such as FDIC or CDIC protection). The value of a stablecoin depends on its issuer maintaining its reserves and its peg.
- Custody. Balances are held by the Provider on your behalf. We display them; we do not hold them.
- Conversion. Conversions between fiat currency and stablecoin happen at the rate and terms of the Provider at the time of conversion.
7. Compliance, holds and reporting
We operate under anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing law. We may delay, decline or reverse a transaction, request further information or documents, freeze an account, and make reports to authorities where the law requires — and in some cases the law forbids us from telling you that a report was made.
8. Prohibited use
You must not use the Service:
- for anything unlawful, including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud or sanctions evasion;
- to send money on behalf of another person without disclosing it to us;
- to receive payments for goods or services you are prohibited from selling;
- to probe, disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service;
- with information that is false or misleading.
9. Our liability
We provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control (including failures of banking networks, payment rails or the stablecoin issuer), for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from inaccurate information you gave us. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing reduces the protections consumer law gives you.
10. Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time once no transfer is in flight; balances are paid out to you in accordance with the Provider's terms. We may suspend or close your account for breach of these Terms or where the law or our Provider agreements require. Records are retained after closure as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give you notice in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Complaints, governing law and contact
If something has gone wrong, contact us first using the support address in the footer and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our final response, you may be entitled to refer the matter to the consumer-protection or financial-complaints body in your place of residence.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Operator is registered, without depriving you of protections granted by the mandatory law of the country where you live.
